30 life lessons on my 31st birthday
Some food for thought as I start my 31st rotation around the sun. I’m sure some of these will change as I grow “older and wiser,” but that’s the cool thing about life, right? We get to change our minds!
So, here are 30 “lessons” (mantras, habits?) I currently live by, learned randomly over the past 30 years of my life!
If it’s not a hell yes, it’s a no.
And – you don’t have to explain or feel bad about that no!
Let it go – your hair, that is! (or your makeup routine, or whatever beauty trend you're currently following because you feel like you “have” to)
Since I was young, society taught me that straight hair = beauty. It’s not till pretty recently that I realized how false that is… and stopped plugging in the straightener. I’ve been embracing my inner curl – and loving it!
Take your vitamins.
I swear, the minute I turned 30 my body just started cracking.
Say yes to adventure, no matter how small.
Think about the last trip you went on. Do you remember how long the flight was, how tired you were when your alarm went off at 4am, how much money you spent? Probably not, right? I know I don’t. What you do remember is the good times. So keep saying yes to them!
Take time to read!
Pro tip: If you don’t currently have the means to travel, a book is a trip you can go on without leaving your house.

Call your friends.
Practice gratitude every day.
Gratitude = abundance.

Energy doesn’t lie.
Your vibe attracts your tribe.
Your passion project, hobby, or side gig doesn’t have to be your career for you to feel fulfilled.
Plants make you happy.
Be creative in whatever way calls to you. Draw, color, journal, paint, sing, dance, make music.
Who cares if anyone else likes it? You like it!
There’s nothing like a rescue dog’s unconditional love.
You’re always exactly where you need to be. If you aren’t, you'll soon find out why.
Don’t spend time regretting that shitty tattoo.
After all, “we’re all just aliens floating on a rock in an ever-expanding universe.” — Wise words from my brother, sam blehar, who talked me off the ledge of the “shitty” tattoo I got in 2016.
